How to Avoid Diabates

Everyone wants to avoid diabetes. Diabetes is an issue that will affect everyone at one point in life, whether directly or indirectly. This newsletter will provide you with more information on diabetes and perhaps will lead to lifestyle changes that can help you, your friends, and family, avoid this terrible and mostly preventable disease.

A person with "adult-onset" diabetes (Type II) has high blood sugar levels because the cells of the body do not respond to insulin (they are "insulin-resistant"). Insulin is a hormone released from the pancreas and stimulates blood sugar uptake by cells of the body.

The cells then use this sugar for energy, however chronically elevated blood sugar levels can be unhealthy. In 1996, it was reported that the number of diabetes cases is going to double to 250 million worldwide by 2025. Type II diabetes is referred to as a lifestyle disease.

By lifestyle disease, this means that factors under our control are the primary factors behind the development of diabetes. The biggest risk factors are obesity, lack of exercise, and poor nutrition. These factors are promoted in Western society by the convenience and hectic schedule that seem to plague everyone.

The North American diet is full of processed foods with poor nutritive value. According to American Society of Bariatric Physicians, obesity has increased due to increased sugar consumption. Processed foods (i.e. white bread) quickly increase blood sugar and are referred to as high-glycemic index (GI) foods. The Nurses Health Study from Harvard examined 75000 nurses and found women eating more high-GI foods had twice the risk of heart disease. As well, high blood sugar levels may damage blood vessels and induce insulin resistance over time.

In addition, this sedentary lifestyle has led many to abandon daily exercise. Two hours in a car and 9 hours behind a desk (at least) are quite a contrast to the daily activities most people had as students. Again and again, authors state that changes in diet, exercise, and weight loss are the keys to treating and preventing diabetes. Authors recommend reducing processed food and sugar intake.

Avoid a "Mega-sized burger, fries, and pop" habit. Weight loss is a big help in avoiding diabetes as well. Losing 10% of excess fat can improve health. Researchers believe that diabetes is also a "skeletal muscle" disease and that people should go to the gym and resistance train. Lose fat. Add muscle.

On a disease-related exercise note, research has also shown that intense aerobic exercise prevents heart disease. The key was intensity and not duration. They found that people that performed 15 min of hard aerobic exercise a couple of times a week had less heart disease (Harvard Alumni Health Study, Circulation 102: 975-986, 2000). So lift, work hard, eat proper and in moderation, and you will increase your odds of long-lasting good health.

Okay, that is enough preaching. There will always be people that can smoke, drink, eat poorly, and not exercise and still live to 90 years of age. However, statistics suggest that more people will be getting ill due to their lifestyle choices. Fortunately, the stats show that this can be avoided and even treated with lifestyle changes. Make the necessary changes and read more on how lifestyle interacts with diabetes.

Are You 100% Sold Out On Weight Loss?

You decided to lose weight? How serious are you really about losing that weight, or is it just a nice thought you had? We'll see if you are really that dedicated or if you only going 20, maybe 40%. Do you try to get by with the least amount of effort? See what you are really doing and what you can improve on to make your weight loss successful.

For weight loss you need to drink plenty of water. No one argues on that but are you doing it? Are you drinking your eight glasses a day or did you have enough after six and call it quit? Did all that running to the bathroom become too annoying to you? If you really want to be serious about your weight loss, drink eight glasses of water a day. Space them out. Make sure you drink four glasses by noon and four before you go to bed. Only drink one glass at a time. How long can you keep this up? Don't just do it for a week or two, make it a habit! You should always be drinking this much.

Are you eating your fruits and vegetables? If you really want to see results you better pick this up. Unless you eat at least some fruit and vegetable every day, don't even tell me that you are on a weight loss program. If you want to tell me that you are in 100% you better be able to show me a list of fruits and vegetables eaten at the end of every day. Now, don't tell me this is for girls. If you are a guy and you are big, I guess you don't have any right to tell me what is the right diet for men. Hear me?!

Are you stepping on that scale regularly? Let me rephrase that. Are you stepping on the scale at least once a week? If you are not, you can not by any means be serious. Saying that you can not handle thinking about your weight does not mean much more, than saying that you can not handle the truth. If you are in 100% step on the scale every day, because every day matters. Every day your scale should be going down, unless you have a dang good reason for it not to.

Your weight loss is not going to come easy. If it was, many more people would be thin. At least don't lie to yourself about being on a weight loss program when you really are not. But when you decide to go on one, be on it 100% and have pride in that. You can do it, once you decide that you want to. Don't let other people fool you in that it is so easy and you just need to do this and that. Be serious, be responsible, and be a winner.

The Truth About Diets And Weight Loss

If you haven't tried fad diets over the years, there is still a good chance you have heard about them. You have probably wondered if these diets work. After all, it sure seems that people have success with them. The truth is some of them do work - for a while. Several of these diets have other health complications. Regardless of what you have been led to believe, the idea that you can eliminate a whole group of foods is unhealthy.

How can eight slices of bacon be better for any body than a slice of whole-wheat bread? Sounds a bit absurd, doesn't it? Yet, when shown apparent evidence of massive weight loss, common sense often is replaced with the desire to join the latest "foolproof" fad diet.

Enough of the sermon! There are proven methods of weight loss. That is what this article will look at. The lack of excitement and popularity is made up for by the effectiveness of these techniques.

1. Calories count.

The one sure way to lose weight is to take in fewer calories than you expend. One pound is equal to about 3500 calories. This means for every 3500 calories you burn above and beyond what you take in, you will lose one pound. You can come up with this difference either by taking in fewer calories, or expending more through exercise. The best recommendation is to balance the two.

2. Food matters.

It is nice to think that avoiding, or some secret combination of, certain foods will make it easier to lose weight. Fad diets prey upon this very idea. There is some truth to this, but only to the extent that healthy foods are a better choice. As obvious as that is, fad diets cloud the issue.

Eat whole, nutritious foods. Avoid saturated fats, sugar, and refined foods. And, as mentioned, calories count. So choosing lower calorie foods will help the weight come off faster.

3. You got to move.

Exercise seems like hard work to those who prefer to sit down in front of the television. You can find ways to get moving that you enjoy. Walking is easy, but some find it boring. Taking the stairs, not taking the car if possible, doing your own yard work, playing with your kids or pets, swimming, or even throwing a Frisbee around all are forms of exercise.

The key is to get yourself moving. It does not have to be a chore, but it does have to become a habit. Find a way to get moving that you enjoy.

Admittedly, these tips have been around for a long time, but there is a reason - they are effective. Any weight loss plan that incorporates these three things is bound to succeed. There is also the benefit to your overall health, not just your waistline. The next time you hear about (or think about trying) the newest and hottest diet, read these tips again. You will likely save some money and lose weight the right way in the process.

Building Up Strong and Shapely Legs

Most persons have more developed legs than the arms since the legs are frequently exercised in a persons daily waking routine. But the mere exercise of walking will not develop the large muscles at the front of the thighs and in the calves of the legs, or the climbing muscles. Walking or running, may bring those muscles into action, but does not place any considerable tension upon them.

The leg muscles of the runner are more elastic, and capable of more rapid action than are those of the athlete of the hills. But the former soon tires under the strain of a steady climb, whatever his physical condition may be, simply because he has not developed the muscles then called into action.

This capability cannot be credited to natural ability but to special training and exerted effort.

It may not catch everyones attention when I say that the exercise I designed will develop these climbing muscles. But when Ill say it can add to the proportionality of the legs, it will perhaps generate interest. The build-up of the muscles on the thigh and the calves relies deeply on the ball of the foot. And the exercise I designed can be practiced while lying in bed.

Attach to the foot of your bed a cord about 1-feet in length, attaching a pulley weight handle. Lying on your side, hold this handle then press firmly against the footboard of the bed with the ball of the foot, and alternately relax the pressure. This alternate pressure and relaxation will actively exercise the muscles in question. It will also imitate the action of climbing, the leg being exercised as such. And it will bring no strain or possible injury upon the heart a danger ever imminent in hill climbing.

The pressure exerted should be equal to that required in climbing stairs or a steep slope. This exercise, if persistently and regularly practiced, will surely improve the symmetry of the legs. And it will give one the ability to climb stairs or steep hills, which cannot be acquired by the same amount of walking or ordinary gym running exercise. It should be practiced both with the left and the right feet. Otherwise the development will be unequal.

If the cord and pulley weight handle is inconvenient, simply rest the ball of the foot against the footboard of the bed and alternately press and relax. Or here is still another and easier way lying on your back or partially on the side, place the ball of the left foot on the upper part or toes of the right. Tense the muscles of this right leg and foot so that it may afford support. Then alternately press and relax with the left foot. Repeat the exercises with the other leg.

The cord and pulley weight handle device is far more effective and can guarantee quicker development. But the last two exercises can be practiced under all circumstances and will appeal to the members of the greatest organization on earth: the lazy people, of which the writer is a member and a good example.

The foremost reason why these exercises were designed is to get the desired development with minimal effort exerted. Some people may say it is a lazy mans system but it is mainly designed for people of more advanced age, who are not anymore fit enough to undergo rigorous and strenuous exercises. Just the same, you are guaranteed that the exercises are remarkably effective. Finally, people of all ages can use these exercises to great benefit.

How To Lose 10 Pounds in 7 Days

In order to lose 10 pounds in 7 days you will have to do 2 main things: Improve on your nutrition and increase the amount of aerobic activity that you perform. It won't be easy but it is very possible if you keep focused and are willing to make the effort. At the end of the week it will be worth it.

Here are some tips on how to lose 10 lbs. in a week:

1. Cut down on your useless calories - sugary drinks, white bread, pastries, fast food, fried food and candies.

2. Instead of eating 3 large meals a day, eat 4-5 small meals. This helps your body to digest the food and turn it into energy instead of into fat. It will also help you feel energized through out the day and will curb your hunger.

3. Drink 8-10 glasses of water each day. I know not the easiest thing to remember so take a large bottle of water to work and make sure you finish it before you leave for home. Often when we feel hungry it's not for lack of food but for lack of liquids. Drinking water will help keep your hunger down. And the best thing is that water is zero calories.

4. In order to lose 10 pounds in 1 week you will have to burn a lot of calories through exercise. There simply isn't enough time to lose that much weight by diet alone. Choose a reliable fitness program that you can use. One such program is home based exercise program called Turbulence Training. The main advantage of this program is that it teaches you how to work out in the comfort of your own home.

Pleas keep in mind that losing 10 pounds in 7 isn't easy to do because it requires a major commitment on your part.

Personally, I don't recommend trying to lose 10 pounds in such a short time. It is much better to give yourself at least 2 weeks to lose 10 pounds. If you have that kind of time, I recommend using the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet. To read a review of this diet, click here: How To Lose 9 Pounds Every 11 Days With Fat Loss 4 Idiots

Trying To Lose Weight? This One Tip Will Put You On A Rocket To Losing Weight Fast

Have you been trying to diet, exercise, and or just simply lose weight, but with no success?

The most popular source for lack of success with getting healthy and in shape is a lack of motivation. Motivation and inspiration can do wonders for your efforts of getting healthy and in shape.

There are many sources of motivation and inspiration in regards to health and fitness. You can find these sources in success stories of other people who are also trying to get healthy and fit, you can find it in magazines and books, you can find it at your health club with seeing other people strive for the same goals you are, and you can find it on your television screen via movies, music videos, sports events, exercise shows, and even infomercials about weight loss and exercising. But, there is one source that is the most important and yields the greatest results.

The motivational tool that yields the greatest results in not just exercising and improving your health, but with anything in your life, is results. That's right, seeing and/or feeling results is the best motivational tool for ultimate success. This is because it triggers a mental key in your mind to not quit because of the results you are seeing and/or feeling. In other words, results make you want to push harder to see even more results.

But what if I am not seeing results? That's the whole point, when you start on your plan to exercise and get healthy, your number one goal in the beginning is to strive to see some type of result. This result can be in the form of ANY amount of weight loss (I say any, because I don't want you to feel as though you have to lose 25 pounds in order to get motivated), going down a dress or pants size, or it can come from the way your body feels after changing your lifestyle to a healthier lifestyle. Stick to your health and fitness plan consistently for a week, and nine times out of ten, not only will you see some type of result, but you will have the motivation to continue.

With all that said, you must take into consideration that if you do not stick to your plan consistently, and/or if you do not have patience, you are not going to see the results you were hoping for, and maybe no results at all. Patience, determination, and consistency are the keys for ultimate success.

Are you ready to start losing weight now? Click Here to ignite your fat burning furnace and start your on your path to weight loss, better health, and a better body. This program is straight to the point and is not your typical "low calorie", "no carb", "don't eat anything all day" type of diet.

Fooled by Cardio? Here's the Better Way

Aerobics are a waste of time. You can burn fat and improve your health without cardio. Long, slow to moderate intensity cardio training, which is what you see most people still doing in the gym, is not really the best way to shed fat.

Interval training, which is periods of short hard exercise followed by short periods of recovery, works better for fat loss, according to both Canadian and Australian researchers (plus hundreds of advanced trainers throughout the world).

An interval might last 30 seconds to 60 seconds, and it would be hard work, harder than normal cardio. Each work interval is followed by 30 to 90 seconds of very easy pace. So if you're running on a treadmill you might run at 7 mph for your work interval and then go all the way down to 3 mph for a walk for your rest. That's what we use instead of slow cardio. All it takes is 20 minutes of interval training to get better results than 40 or 60 minutes of slow cardio.

Now the research and experience is showing that the intervals not only as effective, but it's even more effective in most cases. And also you're doing fewer repetitions. So, you know, every time you run we'll count that as repetitions, so if you run for 60 minutes you're looking at maybe 3,000, 4,000 repetitions in a slow cardio workout where you're doing probably one-third of that or even one-fifth of that in interval workout.

And that leads to less overuse injuries and that's one of the big problems with long slow cardio is that a lot of people end up in the physiotherapy office getting some type of therapy for their overuse injuries. Runners are in there all the time getting their injuries looked after.

So, we're trying to cut back on the volume of work, cutting back on the quantity and focusing on the quality. And like I said, we started off just by doing it to save time and now we're also finding out that we're actually getting more results.

Pick from a big variety of interval methods. It doesn't just have to be running on a treadmill. Clients have started to incorporate a lot of jump rope intervals, which jump rope can be very intense, so I think that's a great, you know, just think of ways that you can make things fun and things that you may enjoy doing.

You might not enjoy running, so find something that you do enjoy doing like jump roping or maybe getting on a stationary bike, but do it, make it real intense for a shorter period of time, then back up that intensity and do a interval type workout and I think you're going to have fun doing it.

To me it's more fun than walking for an hour on a treadmill and you're going to get more benefit out of it and it's going to take a less amount of time. Less amount of workout time, better results, and more fun. You're looking at probably at least a dozen different ways you can do interval training. Sports are intervals. And again that's more fun. You can also do biking or rowing. There's all types of traditional cardio machine that can be used.

We also use sometimes kettlebells and we also use body weight circuits, which are not really interval training but they're not strength training and they're definitely not cardio, but we find that body weight circuits are beneficial in a whole bunch of different ways.

They like interval training to help burn calories and lose body fat, but also because most people are doing exactly what we're doing right now, which is sitting in a chair all day, they're either driving or they're at work and they're in that one posture. Then they get in an elliptical machine and it's not much different.

Don't get stuck in a rut. Move your body.

So there's a whole lot to be said for the body weight circuit training. You can definitely find some of my circuit training videos on YouTube, will give you lots of ideas, but basically what we do there is we generally will take an upper body exercise and a lower body exercise or a whole bunch of them and we'll alternate between upper and lower. Maybe we'll do six or eight exercises in a circuit, take a minute rest, and then go through that again.

Twenty minutes of that, it goes by a lot faster. Interval training goes by a lot faster than regular cardio. Cardio is slow and boring. Bodyweight training is not. Interval training is over fast.

So what we're really trying to do is show people that there's so many other options to getting a better body than what they've read in the muscle magazines or Shape Magazine for the last 20 years since the 1980s that you have to do an hour of circuit training with machines and then an hour on the cardio machine.

That's not a great way to live life and it's not the best way to get results, especially when you look at the body in terms of everything from not only how it looks but also how it moves with the mobility.

And these days were just so immobile in our daily lives that we need to get more movement patterns into our training sessions. And again it's more variety and a lot more fun. So drop the slow cardio and do some type of fat burning interval training to lose belly fat.

Use fast fat burning workouts with bodyweight exercises and interval training

Lose 10 Pounds In a Week By Shifting Calories - Is It Possible?

Recently, a woman who read my review about the Calorie shifting diet method asked me if it is possible to lose 10 pounds in a week by shifting your calories. I decided to write this article since I felt that this must be a more common question and to prevent anyone from making a mistake.

See, I approve of the calorie shifting diet, I talked with hundreds of people who used it, men and women both who used this diet with a great deal of success. However, and this is the important part, you can't lose 10 pounds in a week by shifting calories. Granted, I did receive an email from a woman who managed to do just that. But this is a one of a kind achievement. I'll say it plain, don't expect to lose 10 lbs in a week by shifting your calories. It simply doesn't work that way.

That doesn't mean that calorie shifting isn't a good thing. It is. You can lose a lot of weight with it. You just can't lose 10 pounds in a week with it. Even the diet itself doesn't claim to be able to get you to lose 10 pounds in a week, so don't expect it to happen.

If you were considering to go on the calorie shifting diet in the hope of losing 10 pounds in a week, then don't. You need to be more realistic. However, if you decide on losing weight as a long term, lifestyle choice, then this diet can work for you and help you to achieve your weight goal.

Important Weight Loss Supplement Information You Should Know

When it comes to finding the right weight loss supplement information, it is important to seek for the truth. Don't easily fall prey to false and overly exaggerated advertising claims. Rather, seek weight loss supplement information that is objective and reliable, preferably from a third-party source.

The problem with misinformation

Most diet pills are offering false or inaccurate weight loss supplement information. This was what researchers from the Johns Hopkins University discovered in their recent study. More than 50% of diet pill official website surveyed have revealed that they are not showing enough or complete information about their product. Among the missing information include: recommended dosage, ingredients, and possible side effects, among others.

Unregulated side effects

One of the main problems arising from incorrect supplement information is the failure to regulate possible side effects. Since most diet pills are being sold over-the-counter, there is a greater risk that misinformation can harm hundreds of people, if left unmanaged. Furthermore, there is only a number of diet pills that has been approved by the US FDA. Thousands more are being sold without approval, prompting some doctors to issue precautions about the potential yet unknown dangers of taking these pills.

Knowing the right ingredients

Without the proper information on weight loss pills, you wouldn't know if your diet pill contains ephedrine - a now-banned popular ingredient. Furthermore, you may also be ill equipped when it comes to knowing the possible side effects, some of which include nervousness, tremor, diarrhea, bulging eyes, racing heartbeat, elevated blood pressure, and even heart failure.

A handy information

The basic weight loss supplement information you need to know is this: diet pills work, but they are no way significant to overall weight management. Some diet pills are advised by doctors to patients suffering from extreme or morbid obesity. But even these pills are taken with proper guidance by professionals. Without diet and exercise, diet pills are virtually useless. Hence, it is important to consult your doctor before trying any diet pill.

Weight Loss - Five Easy Steps Towards a Smart Life

Increased weight is a part of today's normal context. Reason may be a minor one, i.e. lack of activities or some serious matter including diabetes, but weight that doesn't suit the height and the body structure in either case doesn't only affect the outlook badly, but also harms the health condition. It needs to be controlled in order to redeem the active and beautiful life from the outgrown weight.

Though much important but if aimed to loose weight overnight, might affect the health in one way or other, so a fairly better option is to plain loosing bit by bit. A variety of pills and weight loss supplements are available freely in the market, which also claim to help you get back to the smart life in a week or so, but again these may have side effect that may rise some months after or years as well.

Nature has always given man with something perfect, until the process has not been disturbed by some externalities. Trying some natural ways for weight loss can also be better off if artificialities are kept aside. It's in fact easy and cost effective as well. What it is and how does it work, let's see in five easy steps:

  1. Good Breakfast: Most of the people misunderstand the fact that weight loss can be accelerated if they quit diet. Certainly not! Quitting a healthy diet means deregulating the process of metabolism, which will further deregulate the other processes of the body. So have breakfast so that your body can get enough energy to be active.
  2. Eating in intervals: Body needs energy and hence food, but taking all the food in a single instance will make you drowsy and of course lazy, so eat little and in regular intervals. Eating disorder is actually the main source of increased weight, so keep regularity in eating and metabolism so that body can be regulated.
  3. Exercise: Changing the eating schedules help only to keep the body on track, but what about the extra amount of weight? Of course that needs to be removed, so burn the calories by being regular in exercise. Not necessary to join a gym, it can be easily be availed by performing household and gardening activities and going for a short walk.
  4. Drink Water: According to experts, about eight glasses of water a day. Don't ignore this, as it's logical explanation. Attempting to lose weight, doing exercises etc body gets dehydrated and needs to maintain the water level in it for being in order. It also regulates the other functions of the body parts.
  5. Wink at Magic Bullets: As stated earlier, markets have many brands claiming to bring you back into a smart body with all its fitness in weeks, but while relying on natural, side effect proof ways, don't go for these pills and weight loss supplements until and unless you're 101% sure that these are natural.

Just give it a time and live a healthier, smarter and more active life that you really deserve.

Weight Loss in Women Over 40

Weight loss for women over 40 is a different story than when they were 20 and needs to be dealt with as such. Middle-aged women are not just dealing with slower metabolisms, they are often dealing with hormonal imbalances which have side effects such as poor thyroid function, bloating, fluid retention and weight gain. Furthermore, by the time women get to their forties, many are chronically sleep deprived which is another factor that affects weight gain and loss. Most of them are also shopping and cooking for family members who can often effectively metabolize foods that they cannot.

Diets or dieting for women over 40 do not achieve the best weight loss results. The best approach to losing weight for middle-aged women is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Give your body what it needs to function optimally and avoid foods that are nutritionally deficient as well as loaded with chemicals that overburden the liver. Given the eating, sleeping and exercise habits of modern women this change can be quite radical. It means avoiding packaged, processed foods that are high in sugars, fats, and chemicals and low in fiber and nutrients. This includes so-called diet products including diet sodas. Artificial sweeteners are much worse than natural sugars and can in fact be addictive.

A healthy diet for women over 40 will differ slightly to a good diet for a younger person. As we age, the body becomes less efficient in processing carbohydrates. Therefore, in order to lose body fat middle-aged women need to eat fewer carbohydrates. A diet that is high in protein, fruits and vegetables with plenty of pure water is the key to regaining health and fitness. It is also important to eat breakfast to kick start the metabolism for the day.

A number of smaller meals throughout the day are better for weight loss than three big meals. This is because larger meals release a lot of insulin into the blood which can interfere with metabolism. You will burn more fat with lower blood insulin levels. Some women may think that cutting their food right back will mean even lower insulin levels, lower calories and greater weight loss. However, if you cut back on your food intake too much you will lower your metabolic rate substantially and retain body fat. They key to losing weight is to eat only life giving, nutritious foods that your body can easily metabolize.

However, eating healthily is only the first step towards weight loss for women over 40. It is necessary to engage in regular aerobic exercise and strength training in order to increase their metabolic rate, burn fat and build lean muscle which uses more energy than fat.

Sleep is also important. Women who do not get eight hours of regular sleep a night are more likely to be overweight than those who do. If you make these lifestyle changes, yet you are finding losing weight is still difficult, you may be dealing with a hormonal imbalance. Estrogen dominance can cause weight gain which is difficult to shift. If this is the case, a natural low-dose progesterone cream may be helpful in restoring balance.

Weight loss for women over 40 does not have to be complicated. If you adopt a healthy lifestyle, you will be able to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight easily.

11 Tips to Boost Your Metabolism

Boosting ones metabolism is something many people try to achieve everyday. Having a high metabolic rate increases the amount of calories, or energy, the body burns on a daily basis. Without optimal metabolism the body will store excess calories as fat for future use. The problem for many people is they dont ever use these excess calories and as a result struggle with weight issues.

There are many factors that affect a persons metabolism including age, weight, hormonal changes, lean muscle mass, diet, genetics, stress and the amount of physical activity undertaken on a daily basis. As you can see boosting your metabolism involves many factors, but the fact of the matter is that it is relatively easy to boost your metabolism if you are committed to doing so.

Here are 11 tips to help you boost your metabolism:

1. Build lean body mass. As we age our bodies metabolism or ability to burn calories decreases. One way to offset this problem is by exercising. Lean muscle burns calories and the more you have the more calories you burn, even while resting. You can build muscle through resistance or weight training at least twice a week. You can also boost your metabolism by doing cardio exercises. You can choose to do this between or in conjunction with weight training. Simply going for a walk or using the stairs instead of the elevator are good ways to get in an aerobic workout.

2. Eat Breakfast. Many people ignore eating breakfast. What they dont realize is that its the most important meal of the day. Breakfast gives your metabolism a boost and provides a consistent energy supply throughout the day. The majority of people who eat a healthy breakfast have fewer weight and health issues than those who dont.

3. Sugar is bad. Processed and refined sugar such as found in sweets and soft drinks overload the body with sugar causing many serious health issues including obesity and diabetes. Complex carbohydrates are a better energy source because they supply an even level of blood sugar. The human body just isnt built to deal with the large amounts of refined sugar most people include in their diet.

4. Spicy foods that make you sweat can help boost your metabolism.

5. Get a good nights sleep. There is research that shows that people who do not get sufficient sleep tend to gain weight. This may be because the body uses sleep to heal and regenerate itself, including its muscular system.

6. Drink more water. Water is the lubricant of the body. It also flushes toxins out of the body and keeps the kidneys operating at maximum efficiency. This allows the liver more time to do what it does best, metabolize fat stores.

7. Eat small meals. Eat 5 to 6 small meals per day spaced 20 to 3 hours apart. This gives the body a steady supply of energy and prevents binge eating.

8. Dont miss meals. Skipping meals in order to loose weight is counter productive because it actually slow metabolism and can lead to over eating.

9. Plan your meals. If you have a daily or weekly menu you are much more likely to stick to your plan.

10. Drink green tea. Green tea has been shown to boost metabolism and unlike coffee does not stress the body with caffeine.

11. Include more high energy foods in your diet including fruits, vegetables and whole grains. These provide a more balanced energy source and will not cause blood sugar spikes.

Boosting your metabolism can be done if you are dedicated to doing it. This does not mean you need to stress over each little thing but if you eat right and exercise you should see a decrease in body fat and a much more energetic and happy you.

Are High Protein Weight Loss Diets Safe?

High protein diets have become a popular way to lose weight, in recent years. Many of these diets promote the idea that carbohydrates should be limited, while high-protein foods such as beef, chicken, pork and fish are the main feature on the menu.

Dieters can lose weight successfully on high protein diets, but should be aware that there may be health risks associated with this type of diet.

The American Heart Association does not recommend a high-protein diet for weight loss. The AHA web site states that most diets of this type lack a balance of needed essential nutrients and, if followed for a long time, they can result in potential health problems.

Limiting higher carbohydrates such as fruits, vegetables, cereals, grains and low-fat dairy products usually mean eating more meats, eggs and cheese, which contain a higher percent of saturated fats. Thus, a high-protein diet can:

*prevent the body from completely burning fat
*raise cholesterol levels
*raise blood pressure
*put you at risk of vitamin deficiencies
*cause loss of muscle tissue
*damage your kidneys and liver
*make you constipated, leading to more severe bowel problems
*increase the risk of kidney stones and osteoporosis

Furthermore, the AHA specifies that eating large amounts of high-fat foods for a sustained period raises the risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and several types of cancer.

An article by Barbara Loecher (Protect Yourself From Environmental Toxins in Your Household, Prevention.com), warns that fish (including tuna), meat, poultry, and full-fat dairy products may contain man-made chemical contaminants called dioxins and polychlorinated biphenylswhich have been linked to cancer, hormone disruptions, and developmental delays in children who have been exposed before birth.

Another huge problem exists with diets requiring you to eat a greater quantity of meat. The fat-inducing hormones and antibiotics given, in great quantities, to cattle are passed right along to us, as we ingest juicy hamburgers, sizzling steaks, brats, etc., (and the BBQ grill adds its own flavorful toxins).

Our body knows how to respond to toxins, and effectively neutralizes themto an extent. However, our body was not created to live in a world filled with as many contaminants as we face daily. When our bodies become overwhelmed by these toxins, it simply produces more fat cells to hide the toxins in; we become fatter and have more difficulty losing weight.

There are ways to limit your intake of these toxins, such as choosing low-fat or fat-free dairy products, buying leaner cuts of meat, trimming off the fat and skin before cooking, and deciding that beans and lentils may be a healthier choice of protein. You could even become a vegetarian, and grow your own organic foods. But it is unrealistic to think you can live in a toxin-free environment, eat chemical-free food, and breathe toxin-free air.

My point is this before embarking or continuing on a high-protein diet, do some research, for your healths sake.

There is a healthy alternative to high-protein diets. A growing number of overweight men and women are turning to Nutritional Cleansing to achieve quick, but totally healthy and natural, weight loss. You cannot escape from toxins, in our world. But you can help your body battle the hazards of toxins.

Internal cleansing may give your body a fighting chance against fat-causing, disease-inducing toxins, so that you can lose weight and live a healthier life.

Cardio Increases Appetite

Does aerobic training burn fat? It should, but why are so many people still overweight, no matter how much long slow exercise they do? Cardio exercise is such a strange thing. In theory, it should work so perfectly well for all men and women, but as anyone who has tried it knows, the practicality of it just doesn't add up.

After all, some men and women do cardio 6 hours, 9 hours, or more per week, and still have belly fat to burn. On the other hand, it works just fine for others. And you know who it works best for? Young, fit males. The guys who don't need any help! Young guys can workout all day long, they have nothing else to do. The guys who have a fast metabolism, exercise a lot, and have plenty of muscle.

It works for them, but does it work for you? Probably not. British researchers wanted to get more insight into this paradox, and studied 35 overweight men and women, who weren't previously exercising.

(Reference: International Journal of Obesity 32: 177-184, 2008).

Subjects exercised 5 times per week for 12 weeks. That's a lot of exercise, but it helped the subjects lose an average of 8.You should lose a lot of weight with cardio - if it worked. So cardio will work for some people, however, in my experience, it works best in young men, who need the help the least!

Back to the study, the variance in fat loss between individuals was huge. Check this out...

The best subject lost a staggering 32.3 pounds in 12 weeks, while the worst subject actually GAINED 3.74 pounds. The scientists think they know where things went sour. They classified the subjects into 2 groups, called the "Compensators" and the "Non-compensators".

The Compensators were hungrier, and as a result consumed an extra 268 calories per day, all but wiping out their cardio efforts. Therefore, the Compensators lost the least amount of weight, and scientists believe that was due to the huge "compensatory" increase in appetite experienced by this group.

Does your appetite increase when you do slow cardio? Cardio might increase your appetite.

So if your cardio program is not working for you, check your appetite and calorie intake to see if you are "compensating" for your efforts. If you are, you might be better off using a program of high-intensity resistance and interval training (i.e. Turbulence Training) for your weight loss efforts.

Researchers have proven intervals burn fat. And increased catecholamines can reduce appetite, among other fat- burning benefits. In the real world, few people lose 33 pounds after 12 weeks of cardio. Heck, few even achieve an average weight loss of 8 pounds with aerobic exercise.

So again, check your appetite, and consider giving high-intensity exercise a go for your next workout program. Beat the curse of cardio with high-intensity fat burning workouts that don't use cardio.

Discover the cardio-free fat burning workouts and the bodyweight exercises that burn belly fat.
